Ohio Hunter Education Instructor #95018487

I did not grow up in a hunting family, but I have always been drawn to history and firearms. After high school, college, a tour in the U.S. Army, and while working in industry, I joined the Ohio Army National Guard. A Guard friend invited me to go hunting and thus began my love affair.

I have always enjoyed sports and the outdoors, and hunting became my new vehicle to that end. In 1985 I returned to active duty with the Army and subsequently retired in 2002 after over 31 years of total service. While in the Army I hunted whenever I could, and had the opportunity to obtain the German Jaegerbrief (Hunting License).

My son developed the same passion for the sport and my grandkids are also becoming accomplished hunters. My son and I have hunted in Germany, South Africa and Wyoming and we have Canada in our sights.

After retirement, I took the opportunity to give back to the sport and in 2003 I became an Ohio Hunter Education Instructor. Prior to my African Safari, I needed a good set of Optics, so I purchased the Alpen Shasta Ridge binoculars which are visible in the picture. Iíve not been disappointed with these optics and have purchased a Spotting scope and Riflescope as well.

Because I believe in the product, I accepted the invitation to join the Alpen Pro Staff. I am a member and teach out of the Portage-Summit Field & Stream Club in Deerfield, Portage County, Ohio (www.psfsclub.com). My classes, as well as all Ohio Hunter Ed. Classes can be found on the Division of Wildlife web site at: www.wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/education-and-outdoor-dicovery/hunter-and-trapper-education
