Alpen Alliance Ambassador - Lonnie Robinson

Arkansas

Born in 1956 and raised in the heartland of Wichita, Kansas, Lonnie Robinson's journey through life has been intertwined with the wilderness. At the tender age of 6, he embarked on his first hunting expedition alongside his father and brother, exploring the vast landscapes of Central and Western Kansas. For Lonnie, the real blessing lay not just in the thrill of the hunt, but in the cherished moments spent with family, surrounded by the serenity of the wild.

In 1977, Lonnie made the move to Arkansas, settling into the very home his parents had purchased a year prior. While he initially ventured into big game hunting in the picturesque Arkansas landscapes, Lonnie found his heart returning to the pursuit of Quail and Pheasant. His true love, however, was simply being out in the wild, cherishing the untamed beauty that nature had to offer, particularly with a special admiration for eagles.

As the years unfolded, Lonnie witnessed the increasing challenges facing the wilderness, prompting a deep-seated commitment to conservation. In 2007, he became a volunteer for the Arkansas Game & Fish, dedicating himself to teaching Hunter Safety and Wilderness Conservation Education. Over the years, Lonnie has imparted his knowledge to more than 4000 students, ranging from 6 to 82 years old, with the average age being 14. His passion lies in instilling a sense of responsibility and respect for the wilderness in the younger generation.

Certifications and Awards

Lonnie's contributions to the realm of outdoor education have not gone unnoticed. As a 4H Certified Instructor in various disciplines and an NRA USA Shooting Sports Stage 1 Shotgun Certified professional, Lonnie's expertise is well-regarded. In 2015, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission honored him with the Hunter Educator of the Year award, recognizing his outstanding commitment to safety and education. Two years later, he was again celebrated, this time as the Boating Safety Educator of the Year.

In 2022, Lonnie Robinson's dedication reached an international stage. The International Hunter Education Association acknowledged his exemplary contributions, bestowing upon him the Hunter and Instructor Education Award for Arkansas. Today, Lonnie continues to inspire and educate, offering his wealth of knowledge to those eager to explore the wonders of the wild.
